SOMETHING ABOUT UINIVERSITY

Higher State Educational Establishment of Ukraine “Bukovinan State Medical University” is one of the leading educational establishments of Ukraine. Its history is an integral part of the intellectual, cultural and spiritual history of Bukovyna. The prehistory of the University’s establishment is connected with the reorganization of the Second Kyiv State Medical Institute, founded on March 1, 1931, which in 1941 was evacuated to the city of Chelyabinsk. Since during the war, Bukovyna was not almost destroyed, Resolution No. 1360 of October 20, 1944 restored the activities of the 2nd Kiev Medical Institute with the Medical Faculty in Chernivtsi.

Chernivtsi Medical Institute was reorganized by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, Order of No. 312 of 04.04.1997 into Bukovinian State Medical Academy.

In the early 2000’s, the University gained a new dynamic development. In 2001, Chernivtsi City Council transferred the Academic Palace, to the balance of the BSMA, which became the centre of student leisure and creativity. In 2003, the Faculty of Postgraduate Education was founded, which made it possible for the graduates to receive specialization and qualification at their native Alma Mater. In 2004 the Pharmaceutical Faculty, in 2008 the Faculty of Dentistry were opened, in 2011 the Medical Faculty which prepares foreign citizens, was established.
